Iho kaikki il'l'enessä,
Paijan kaulus kalkkaroissa!
Neitsyt Moarie emoni,
Rakas äiti armollini,
Puhas vaimo puhtukaini,
Kirposi, tuli kipina
Läpi maan, läpi veden,
Läpi kuun kirjokannen,
Poltti parmahat emolta,
Rikko rinnat neitoselta.

Based on an old Finnish folk poem. Moiśśeińi Kuśma, Ahosia; oppinut isältää. The poem is from aroud mid 19th century, but probably a bit older. The cultural genocide happening in China and Ukraine made me realise how important our connection to our past, language and culture is, and made me look further into Finnish history.
Syöjätär was formed in early 2022 in Finland. The band is a single-member project, with all instruments being handled by
Nylkijä.
The first six song album, "Pyhät puut" was ushered out in July of 2022.
Syöjätär draws heavy inspiration from Finnish folk lore, black metal, post-rock and prog.
